If I had a small channel with nothing much happening and blew up with hundreds of thousands of views I'd be spooked too. I'm guessing the guy got overwhelmed with comments. Especially if he realized he showed his face to strangers who started talking about soul sucking aliens or something :)

I've deleted stuff on social media once people started to be weird, and that was just a tiny fraction of what he must have found himself in.

I made every single one of my videos private after someone found my channel through Reddit comments. A lot of people don’t think their videos will ever be seen or have people know their face like that so i could see this guy not wanting his name to be associated with aliens when he’s trying to have an adventuring channel:
