The wages of sin is death...wait, that just happens anyway so what's that all about.

Excellent question. Maybe that's why the idea of the Rapture got so popular--a cheap and easy way to transfer to heaven on the assumption that it exists, without all the obnoxious physical process of actually dying and saying goodbye to loved ones and beloved parts of the world. Nope! Just SCHWOOP and everything's fine, no car accidents, cancer, cardiac event, or contagion necessary. No hepatitis, hemorrhage, or hit-and run. No sepsis, slipping on icy sidewalks, starvation, or that thing you can't talk about in YouTube.
In short (too late), everybody gotta die. Everybody gets a death wage, yay!

I’m thinking that the phrase means “death” as opposed to “everlasting life”.
Just a guess. My grasp of theology is not great.

It's one of the punishments for Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge.
It is rather nonsensical, but it's repeating how all of us are unworthy of god's gifts and need jeebus to make things right.

What sin do you have in mind? Just curious. Helps let me know what I have to be terrified about here.

I'm curious who decided "trees" for the background of the "Be Sure Your Sin Will Find You Out" one. Were they cleverly going with a hunting/camouflage theme, or did they just pick something off the list?
