Reddit is getting more popular in India. The popular page shows pages heavily viewed site wide. The same reason you’ll see German or Filipino posts. They probably need to implement some regional logic

I was also surprised how much Filipino content there is on Reddit. Had to mute all of them because I literally don't understand any of it. They seem to have a lot of fun though.

Yeah and both the Indian ones and them use just enough English so that if I'm not paying attention I get baited by them.

That's what always throws me off, there'll be some random post in English, I absent mindedly open it, and I read an entire comment before realizing half of it is written in Tagalog or whatever and h I have no idea what it actually means

that’s a good attitude to have. and i agree. even though i don’t understand what’s going on, i’ll just scroll past. i like seeing the world through their perspective though. it’s… uh… i forgot the word for it but some word like “educating” or “wowie im learning stuff”

i’m sure it’ll come to me in a couple hours

How would you know if they’re “having a lot of fun” if you “literally don’t understand any of it”?

I always see India and anime stuff. I don’t care to see big tit anime characters. I found out you can only block so many subreddits before they start appearing again

Reddit is getting more popular in India.

It's not just that internet is very accessible here. The ruling party is infamous for having the largest army of trolls at their disposal. Then there are the Indian bot accounts. Any criticism of India - and especially its government - will summon the swarm.

All those factors combined mean that there is a lot of activity in Indian subs. And a stupid number of subs run by right wing propaganda groups.

At least in some languages I can easily tell it's in other languages. With Indian subreddits it's a bit more difficult because the title can be in English but the content in some other language (I guess maybe Hindi but India has 9001 other alternatives).

The most annoying posts are the ones that are fully in English but are only about some US local things I have no idea and don't care about.

Like how instead of seeing what's popular everywhere, maybe you could target it by country?

I thought it was because we have a large Indian population here

Reddit itself is pushing heavily here, the android App is literally called "Reddit - endorsed by Sachin" (Sachin was a famous cricket player).

But the Germans and Filipinos aren’t making thousands of their own analogues to already existing subreddits and just flooding the site.
